11 Questions From Saathiray

witticaster:

  • Rule 1: Always post the rules.
  • Rule 2: Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked, then ask 11 new ones.
  • Rule 3: Tag 11 people, then @-link them in the post.
  1. What is your favorite mythical creature? Dryads.
  2. Name a song that inspires you. OOoohh. There could be so many answers to this one. Acres Wild by Jethro Tull.
  3. What is one accomplishment, choice, or creation that you are proud of? My bachelor’s degree in science from CCSU. Lots of hard work, lots of complaining, and learning a lot of really cool stuff that has become a very big part of who I am.
  4. What is the first tattoo you ever got? OR if you were to get a tattoo (minus any consequences that would otherwise prevent you from doing so) what would it be? My tattoo is of a Norther saw-whet owl (Aegolius acadicus) on a tamarack (Larix laricina) branch. My second tattoo that I plan to get when I return from London is of a compass rose.
  5. Name, paste, or link to a quotation or poem that means something to you. “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
  6. What is the most beautiful place you’ve ever visited? That would also be difficult to pick one of; I think it’s a three way tie between the summit of Bear Mountain (the highest peak in Connecticut), a little peninsula in the Adirondacks, and the tamarack grove near the-whitness's house in Colchester.
  7. What would your memory palace be? A cabin and it’s surrounded woodland landscape.
  8. Describe the last dream you remember OR the coolest dream you remember. It had to do with hornets, larping, linen, and my boyfriend. I don’t think there was a lot of plot or continuity to it, but it was not a relaxing dream.
  9. What was the last book you finished and would you recommend it? Hild by Nicola Griffith and very much so.
  10. Who was the last person to make you smile? Jarad.
  11. Do you feel you have a formative fandom? If so, what is it? If not, recommend a book/show/game/comic/etc. that you enjoy today. I didn’t really get to know what “fandom” was until fairly recently and I still don’t really consider myself a part of any. As far as things that were formative and have a fandom, I will with some embarrassment admit that Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter was probably the most formative of my young loves.

(I’m going to post & save this then edit it to include my questions and tags…once I’ve finished my mountain of homework.)

Pale touch-me-not (or pale jewelweed!) (Impatiens pallida ). I was really excited to find these outside one of our well houses. Impatiens carpensis are everywhere but I rarely see their paler cousins.
